The United States of Nerocomplex

When in the think of war itself, one report follows hard upon the heels of another, it is then fortunate if these reports in contradicting each other show a certain balance of probability, and thus themselves call forth a scrutiny. It is much worse for the inexperienced when an accident does not render him this service, but one report, supports, another, confirms it, and magnifies it, finishes off the picture with fresh touches of colour, until necessity in urgent haste forces from us a resolution which will soon be discovered to be folly, all those reports having been lies, exaggerations, errors, etceteras. It is easy to misunderstand the lesson of history and declare that today is not the same as yesterday. Yesterday, there was one individual named Nero, but today that lesson is no longer just one individual. Yesterday that empire was called Rome, but today that empire is called a democracy. Yesterday that empire declared war, but today that empire simply declared sanctions. Most westerners with knowledge of the great fall of the biggest empire in western civilization can understand the reference to Nero. But how many western educated scholar can point to it, and say here lies the NERO of modernity? For those who studied the West, but have a complete void of the East; the simple truth is that there is nothing the Western civilizations can teach that the East could not. The inverse, however, cannot be said to be true. China itself is a good corpus of knowledge to study the history of human nature. India itself is also complete in its long history of struggle. When Confucious made the statement that all the princes of other nations combined would not outshine the culture of a Chinese man, I believe this may hold today still. When studying the history of the USA, what does it offer in contrast to the China history? When studying the western civilization from Rome to present day, what does it offer in contrast to the China history? If you were isolated to the study of just western or eastern history: which body of knowledge better prepare you for ww3?
